If you’re thinking about getting engaged and want to do a custom design with us, looking at what other 21C Designs clients love can be great inspiration for your own engagement ring, whether you’re resetting an heirloom diamond or starting the process from scratch.
Here are four timeless engagement ring trends that tend to come up again and again with our clients—we can’t wait to hear which one resonates with you the most. Contact us to discuss all this and more!
Fancy Shapes
Next to traditional round brilliant diamonds, oval shaped diamonds are the reigning favorite with our couples. And we absolutely adore oval diamonds because they elongate the finger and always “face up” a little bit lager than its stated carat size. Elegant emerald cuts have a rectangular shape and clean, linear facets—the look is very architectural, modern, and sophisticated. And cushion cuts have a square shape with slightly rounded corners—our clients love their romantic, vintage vibe and the sparkle factor, which can be truly breathtaking.

Timeless Deco
As classic as it gets! So many of our clients love the Art Deco vibes of baguettes and emerald cuts. This engagement ring style has either a round or emerald-cut diamond flanked by two tapered baguettes, a style that originated in the 1930s. A clean, elegant stunner from all angles, the addition of those two sleek baguettes is the perfect way to add a little more wow factor to a solitaire engagement ring style.

Sapphire Center Stones
If you’re looking for a diamond alternative, as many of our clients are, a blue sapphire is a beautiful option. There’s the bright blue we all associate with Princess Diana/Kate Middleton’s engagement ring and an entire spectrum of light-to-dark blue hues to choose from. Quite a few of our clients have expressed interest in Montana sapphires, which are mined right here in the U.S. They can be hard to find in sizes over two carats but come in a unique range of colors, from a light “denim” gray blue to deeper blue-greens and teal. As many of our Connecticut shoreline brides can tell you, those ocean hues can be hard to resist when you see them!
